    Bramling Cross displays a blackcurrant and lemon quality.
    It is the distinctive hop flavour/aroma in Ruddles County.

    Bramling Cross, bred in 1927, is a cross between a Bramling (Golding) mother and a wild Manitoban male.
    Characteristics
    Aroma: Quite mild and not unpleasant.                                                                                                                                   
    Flavour:
    Distinctive strong spicy/goldcurrant.
    Cone Structure: Medium sized, moderately tight, plumpish cone.
    Lupulin: Medium yellow in color.

    Growth & Harvest Information
    Growth Habit: Moderately vigorous but produces few shoots in the Spring.
    Maturity: Early to mid-season
    Yield: 1,500 - 2,000 kg./ha or 1,350 - 1,800 lb./ac.
    Pickability: No problems.
    Drying and Baling: No problems.
    Storageability: 60 - 70% of alpha acids remaining after six (6) months storage @ 20° C.
    Disease Reaction: Tolerant to Verticillium wilt and hop mosaic. Fairly tolerant to both downy and powdery mildew.

    Acid Composition
    Alpha Acid: 5.0 - 7.8% w/w
    Beta Acids: 2.2 - 3.5% w/w
    Co-Humulone: 25 - 31% of alpha acids

    Oil Composition
    Total Oil: 0.7- 1.2mls/100 grams
    Myrcene: 35- 40% of whole oil
    Humulene: 28- 33% of whole oil
    Caryophyllene: 14 - 18% of whole oil
    Farnesene: <1% of whole oil

    Other Information
    The eccentricity of the Manitoban gives beers a blackcurrant and lemon quality which is exciting when carefully handled. Alternatively, Bramling Cross can provide a sweet creamy drinkability. This hop should be excellent for spiced beers, Christmas beer, fruit beers. curry beer, as well as having potential for winter and summer wheat beers. Very few overtly Bramling Cross beers yet exist. It is the distinctive hop flavour/aroma in Ruddles County – Regarded by many to be the best bottled English bitter available in Australia.
